Expand Your Mind at the Miller Center
The Commonwealth of Virginia boasts a heritage steeped in Americana, and with a location just 100 miles from Washington, D.C., Albemarle County is home to thousands of former political insiders.
This ingrained interest in government and politics is just one reason why the University of Virginia established The Miller Center of Public Affairs, a national meeting place where concerned citizens, academics, students, government officials and media representatives gather in a spirit of nonpartisan politics to address issues of national and international concern.
As an integral part of the University of Virginia, the Miller Center offers a variety of programs, many which are free of charge, including forums with more than 60 speakers that are open to the public each year on topics that cover everything from domestic policy to foreign cultures.
Friday, Sept. 5: "Bush's Law: Remaking American Justice," with Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Eric Lichtblau.
Friday, Sept. 12: "Face to Face with Osama bin Laden," with terrorism expert and CNN National Correspondent Peter Bergen.
Monday, Sept. 15: "To Lead the World: American Strategy After the Bush Doctrine," with University of Virginia Professors and scholars Melvin P. Leffler and Jeffrey W. Legro.
Complete schedules for all Miller Center programs can be found on the Miller Center website.
